Impulse x University
Physical Introduction
One hour before the performance begins, audience members are invited to a 30-minute physical introduction that prepares them physically and sensually for the evening.
It welcomes participants of all ages, with or without movement experience.
The format was developed in cooperation with students from the MA programme in Dance Mediation at the Centre for Contemporary Dance at the Cologne University of Music and Dance, and is mentored by Prof. Dr Constanze Schellow. It is created by Kai-Ko Chang, Beatrice Cordier, Ido Grinberg, Mathi Guntinas Lichius, Mona Nellessen, Elisabeth Pieper, Bo Preuß, and Sebastian Ritter Choquehuanca.
You can find more information on the individual event pages.
University Collaborations
Dedicated to exchange between artistic practice, theory and education, the Impulse Festival brings together emerging artists and cultural practitioners.
In addition to the accompanying format “Bewegte Einführungen,” with which the Cologne University of Music and Dance is participating in the festival this year, the festival regularly develops collaborative projects with universities — from reflections with the Department of Transcultural Studies at HHU Düsseldorf to research on audience engagement at the University of Mainz. Students from Ruhr University Bochum and the University of Music and Dance Cologne contribute further perspectives on performative practice.
In addition, the festival also offers discounted tickets to young professionals upon accreditation via the festival website. Particularly during the second festival weekend, exchange and workshop formats are specifically designed to create space for networking, insights, and conversations with artists and organisers.
