FRIENDS ONLY? KONFRIENDS 2025

The national FESTIVALFRIENDS network invites festival teams and others with an interest to discuss practical issues of festival making at KONFRIENDS 2025 – this time focussing on our audience.

How do we conceive and realise festivals as an event form in which art and debate create spaces for people to meet? How do we combine open and protective spaces, and how do we successfully invite new audience groups to participate? With an eye to the ever-louder attacks on democracy and artistic freedom, KONFRIENDS 2025 - entitled ‘FRIENDS ONLY?’ – examines this with input from festival practitioners and scholars, and discussions with cultural policymakers and administrators.

‘FRIENDS ONLY? KONFRIENDS 2025’ is a project by FESTIVALFRIENDS, a festival network of the independent performing arts in Germany, in co-operation with the NRW Landesbüro Freie Darstellende Künste in the FAVORITEN Future Lab series and with the Impulse Festival for Performance, Theatre & Dance.

FESTIVALFRIENDS is funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media via the Bundesverband Freie Darstellende Künste e. V.’s programme ‘Verbindungen fördern’.

Not accessible by wheelchair. Entrance only via stairs.
No wheelchair-accessible toilet.

Distances

Limited free parking available behind the bulding of Ringlokschuppen Ruhr. Approx. 300 metres.

Distance to the tram stop ‘Schloß Broich’ approx. 150 metres. Station has lift and escalator - unfortunately with frequent breakdowns. Current information on operations at ruhrbahn.

Various audience formats with exchange formats, lectures and panel discussions.
